Proposed Road Closure North Main St. Bandon R586 (part of 24 hr closure) from 25th of Aug. to 27th of Sept. to facilitate pipeline, road and footpaths works.




Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:-

R-586-0(Part), North Main Street, Bandon.

Period of Proposed Closure

From 19:00hrs Sunday 25th August 2019 to 19:00hrs Friday 27th September 2019.

(24 Hour Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Pipeline, Road and Footpath Construction.

Alternative Routes

Traffic intending to access North Main Street from Kilbrogan Hill and Emmet Row will be diverted west along the R-586-12 passing the Dunmanway Road, follow the road onto the R-586-25, then at Carhoon East turn left onto the L-2019-0 heading towards Baxter’s Bridge, follow the road to its junction with the N71 at Knockaveale, then turn left onto the N71-982, follow the road on to N71-993, and then N71-1001, take a right at the mini roundabout onto Kilbrittain Road (N71-1013), then turn left onto the Bypass Road (N71-1018), follow the road onto the N71-102, then take the 1st exit at the roundabout on to the Glasslinn Road (R586-0), follow the road, then at the junction turn right onto St Finbarr Place and continue onto Bridge Place (R-586-0) whereby then approaching the closed road from the opposite side of the road closure.

The above stated diversion is applicable in reverse when travelling the opposite direction.

Traffic approaching Bandon on the R-586-0 from Enniskean intending to traverse North Main Street, will be diverted right at Carhoon East onto the L-2019-0 towards Baxter’s Bridge from where they shall then follow the above stated diversion from that point onwards.

An additional, local traffic alternative diversion route, via Macroom Road (R589-0) and Old Cork Road(L-2040-0) may also be used for vehicles other than heavy goods vehicles.

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-140-19, not later than Thursday 8th August 2019.
