The L1160 Davagh Etra Road will be closed for 100 metres where it joins the N2. The closure is required to allow reconstruction of the Davagh Etra Road where it joins the new N2 Road alignment scheme currently under construction. There will be no through traffic between the N2 and the L1160 Davagh Etra Road during the closure, however the remainder of L1160Davagh Etra Road will remain open to local traffic only for residents and businesses along the road.

Vehicles travelling North along the N2 will no longer be able to turn left at the junction between the N2 & L1160 Davagh Etra Road – instead vehicles will need to turn left onto the L1170 Tydavnet Road. Continue on this road for 1.0 miles (1.6 km) to L1155 Road. Turn right onto L1155 and proceed North along the L1155 for 2.0 miles (3.2 km) to the junction with the L1160 Davagh Etra Road then turn right onto the Davagh Etra Road and proceed along the L1160 Davagh Etra Road.

Vehicles travelling South along the N2 will no longer be able to turn
right at the junction between the N2 & L1160 Davagh Etra Road – instead vehicles will need to proceed South for 1.3 miles (2.0 km) and turn right onto the L1170 Tydavnet Road and follow the diversion as outlined above.

The diversion route will have an overall length of
5.0 miles (8.0 km), which is an increase of 3.5 miles (5.6 km) over and above the existing distance of 1.5 miles (2.4 km) along the L1160 Davagh Etra Road. In summary, the diversion route will add 3.5 miles (5.6 km) travel onto journeys between the N2 and Davagh Etra Road.

The closure will take place in the townland of
Dernashallog, with the diversion route extending from Carrigans to Gortmoney, Corracrin, Knockronaghan, Corraghduff, Ardnasallen, Tonycoogan, Drumconnelly, Tonynumery and Cornacreeve townlands.

Emergency vehicles will also need to use the diversion route. We will make every effort to escort emergency vehicles through the closure to facilitate their access onto L1160Davagh Etra Road during the closure works, however our ability to do this will be governed by what stage the construction of the new road is in at the time – if there are significant differences in level between the two which would not allow us to facilitate passage of emergency vehicles through the closure then they would need to proceed along the diversion route.

The contact number regarding any queries relating to the road closure is,Gibson Bros (Ireland) Ltd N2 site office telephone number 047 86722N2 Traffic Management mobile phone no. 083 0688471.
