CORK COUNTY COUNCIL

DEVELOPMENT UNDER SECTION 179 OF THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACT, 2000 AND NOTICE PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF PART 8, ARTICLE 81 & ARTICLE 120(3) OF THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, 2001 AS AMENDED

Notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to carry out the following development:

The construction of shared use footpaths and cycle ways, footpaths, junction improvements and traffic calming at Rodeen, Derrymihan West and Foildarrig, Castletownbere between the Bridewell junction of the R-572-312 and L-4918-0 and a point 363 metres west of the Rodeen Cross junction of the R-572-312 and L-4920-0 for a distance of 2230 metres.

Location: The proposed scheme is located along the Regional Road R-572-312, Castletownbere, Beara, Co.                         Cork

In the Townlands of: Rodeen, Derrymihan West and Foildarrig

Nature and Extent of Proposed Development:

The scheme involves the construction of three metre wide shared use footpaths and cycle ways, two metre wide footpaths, junction improvements, and includes the installation of surface water drains, utility ducting, public lighting, traffic calming measures, signage, road side walls, retaining walls, narrowing of the carriageway, localised parking, re-location of an ESB substation, road markings and landscaping.

As per Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening determination has been made and concludes that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development once standard industry environmental management systems are in place. A determination has been made that an EIA is not required.

As per Article 120(3) where any person considers that the development proposed to be carried out would be likely to have significant effects on the environment, he or she may, at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks beginning on the date of the publication of this notice apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have such significant affects on the environment.    

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection and/ or purchase at a fee of €5 per set from March 19th 2019 up to and including April 29th 2019 as follows:

Area Engineer’s Office, Foildarrig, Castletownbere, Beara, Co. Cork.

on each day during which the said office is open for the transaction of business.
