The following Weather Advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at 10:00 hours Tuesday, 21-Feb-2017 A rapidly deepening wave depression will track eastwards over northern parts of Ireland later Wednesday night and early on Thursday. It will bring a period of severe winds and heavy rain, with snow on northern hills. Strong to gale force southwest winds will develop overnight and become gale force northwesterly by Thursday morning with severe gusts, especially in northern and eastern areas. National "Yellow" Weather Warning (Wind)

Yellow Wind Warning in effect for Waterford, Valid: Wednesday 25 January 2017 10:00 to Thursday 26 January.

South to southeast winds will increase strong to gale force and gusty in coastal counties of Ireland today. These winds will persist overnight and into tomorrow Thursday. Mean winds of 55 to 65 km/h are expected, with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h at times. Winds will be at their strongest overnight and for a time tomorrow, in southwestern, western and northwestern coastal counties. 01 2017
