Road Works on the R727 at Kilmacart

Carlow County Council wishes to advise that essential road re-surfacing works will be carried out on the R727 Hacketstown to Kiltegan Rd at Kilmacart for two days from tomorrow Thursday the 4th of May until Friday 5th of May next from 8.00am to 6.00pm.


A stop-go system traffic management system will be in place.  However drivers are advised to avoid the area in question if at all possible.  

Carlow County Council wishes to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to members of the public who reside at or normally use the area affected and will endeavour have the works completed by the appointed time.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 that the following road will be closed to public traffic for the dates and times stated:





Foul Sewer Diversion Works – L-2050-0 McSwiney Quay, Bandon

From 08:00hrs  Tuesday 2nd May 2017 to 18:00hrs Friday 29th September 2017

(24 Hours Daily)



Road To Be Closed:

Part of the L-2050-0 McSwiney Quay from its junction with the R586 at St Finbarr Place to its junction with Weir Street.

Alternative Route:

Traffic leaving Riverview Shopping Centre will turn right onto Weir Street and then left on to the L2021-31 at South Main Street and continue onto the R603 along Pearse Street and then left rejoining the R586 at St Finbarr Place.



Traffic coming over Bandon Bridge or Glasslyn Road will travel southbound on to the R603 at St Finbarr’s  Place, continue westbound along the L-2057-0 Saint Patrick’s Quay,  turn right on to R603 at Market Street, turn left on to the L-2021-31 at South Main Street, turn right onto Weir Street when then rejoining the L-2050-0 before the Riverview Shopping Centre junction.



This closure is to facilitate Bandon Flood Relief Scheme.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 that the following road will be closed to public traffic for the dates and times stated:



Tower Street, Bantry

From 00.01 hrs Monday 1st May 2017 to 24.00hrs Friday 26th May 2017

(24 Hour Closure)



Road to be closed:

The L-8798-0 Tower Street from its junction of the Square Bantry N-71 and Blackrock Lane, up to its junction with the L-4730-0 at Blackrock Road.

Alternative Route:

Residents of  Blackrock road (L-4730-0), Blackrock Lane (L-8801-0) and Toms Lane (L-4729-0) and other traffic can find alternative routes via Scart Road (L-4715-0), Wolfe tone Square and the N 71.



Local access will be provided for local residents of the 300 metres of road to be closed for works.



This closure is to facilitate installation of a new watermain.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 that the following road will be closed to public traffic for the dates and times stated:





Scart Road, Bantry

From 00.01 hrs Monday 1st May 2017 to 24.00hrs Friday 26th May 2017

(24 Hour Closure)



Road to be closed:

Part of the L-4715-0 Scart Road from its junction with the L-4714-0 at St Finbarr’s Terrace/Hospital Road to its junction with the L-4730-0 at Blackrock Road.

L-4715-0 (Part)



Alternative Route:

Traffic travelling north along Scart Road will turn right onto the L-4714-0 at St Finbarr’s Terrace and continue onto the L-4716-0 Hospital Road. Traffic will then turn left onto the L-4752-0 and continue onto L4753-0 down Chapel Street and turning left onto the L-4715-0 to join the L-4730-0 at Blackrock Road.



Traffic will also be diverted along the L-4730-0 Blackrock Road, turning left onto the L-4729-0 at Tom’s Lane and joining the N71 at the Quay.



 This closure is to facilitate Installation of a New Watermain.
