Rdworks John St New Ross and the R700

Major Roadworks – John St, New Ross and the R700 (Tholsel to Mannion’s Public House)

From Monday the 25th of June to Friday the 6th of July from 19.00 to 04.00 Nightly

There will be Major Resurfacing works taking place on John Street, New Ross and the R700 from the Tholsel to the N30 / R700 Junction (Mannion’s Public House) commencing Monday the 25th of June. The works will take place at night from 19.00 to 04.00 and will be completed by Friday the 6th of July. The Road will be closed during the working hours outlined above and diversion routes will be signposted.

These works are weather dependent and as such the completion date and working hours may be subject to change. 06 2018

Temporary Closing Of Roads

Monaghan County Council intends to close the following road in the Municipal District of Monaghan in County Monaghan:

Date of Closure:             Wednesday 4th July – Wednesday 11th July 2018

Road Closed:                     Dawson Street N54 and Church Square, Monaghan

Dawson Street N54

From Church Square R867

Close at Junction with Church square/Market StreetR867 /North Road N54
  1. Follow North Road N54 to Junction with Glaslough Street N54
  2. Turn right onto Glaslough Street N54.
  3. Turn left onto Dublin Street N54.
  4. At Old Cross Square roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the N54/Broad Road
  5. At 2nd set of Traffic lights (R162 Junction) Diversion ends.

From N54/Market Road/R162 Junction

Close at Junction with N54 Market Road/R162 Glen Road.

  1. Follow N54 to Margaret Skinnider roundabout.
  2. At Margaret Skinnider Roundabout take 2nd exit onto Park Street R867.
  3. Follow Park Street R867 onto Market Street R867
  4. At end of Market street R867 Diversion ends.

From Glaslough Street N54 to Church Square R867

Close at junction of Glaslough Street N54 to Church Square R867 (The Diamond)

  1. Follow Dublin Street N54 to Old cross square roundabout.
  2. At Old cross square roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the N54/Broad Road.
  3. Follow N54 to Margaret Skinnider roundabout (through two sets of lights).
  4. At Margaret Skinnider Roundabout take 2nd exit onto Park Street R867.
  5. Follow Park Street R867 onto Market Street R867
  6. At end of Market street R867 diversion ends.

Church Square R867

From Dublin Street/Glaslough Street Junction

Follow Dublin Street to the Old cross Square roundabout
  1. At Old cross square roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the N54/Broad Road
  2. At 2nd set of Traffic lights (R162 Junction) turn right onto Dawson Street N54.
  3. Follow Dawson Street N54 to Junction with Market Street R867.
  4. At Junction with Market Street R867 diversion ends.

From Market Street/Dawson Street junction

  1. Turn onto the North Road N54
  2. Follow North Road N54 to Junction with Glaslough Street N54.
  3. Turn right onto Glaslough Street N54.
  4. At Junction with Dublin Street N54 diversion ends.

From Mill Street L5515

Mill Street Closed at junctions with Hill street L1632 (Closed at top of entry)

  1. Follow High street L1632 to junction with Rowantree road L5514 and turn right.
  2. Follow Rowantree road and turn left onto North Road N54.
  3. Follow North Road N54 to Junction with Glaslough Street N54.
  4. Turn right onto Glaslough Street N54.
  5. At Junction with Dublin Street N54 diversion ends.

Every effort will be made to minimise delays.



Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above mentioned roads with the Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 26th June 2018. Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

Temporary Closing Of Roads

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross-Castleblayney in County Monaghan as previously advertised in the Irish Independent on Friday 15th June 2018 and Thursday 21st June 2018.

Date of Closure:            
Saturday 30th June 2018 – Monday 2nd July 2018


Road Closed:                    
N2 Castleblayney Bypass – from the Townland of Tullyvin (Tullyvin Roundabout) to the Townland of Moy Otra (Junction for Clontibret). There will be a single lane closure (Northbound only) during this period while the works are taking place.


Times:                                  6.00a.m. – 10.00p.m.                                                                                               

To Facilitate:                      Essential Maintenance Works: Repair to Wire Rope System 

Diversion Routes:          
Main Diversion via old N2 Clontibret, Castleblayney Town & other 
localised diversions will be in place for the duration of the closure.

Temporary Closing of Roads

In order to facilitate the Monaghan Town Country Music Festival and Festival Funfair, it is the intention of Monaghan County Council to close the following roads and carpark on dates and times as described below: -

Monaghan Town
  • LS5515 – Lower Mill Street between North Road and Church Square from Thursday 12th July 2018 to Saturday 14th July 2018 between the hours of 6:30pm and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 15th July 2018 between the hours of 2.30 pm and 11:30 pm
  • LS5515 – Upper Mill Street between Hill Street and North Road from Thursday 12th July 2018 to Saturday 14th July 2018 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 2.00 a.m.
  • R867 – From Market Street to the Diamond (including Church Square), Monaghan Town from Thursday 12th July 2018 to Saturday 14th July 2018 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 15th July 2018 between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. A partial road closure may also be put in place in the Diamond on Saturday 14th July 2018 between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m.
  • N54 – Glaslough Street (past the entrance to the car park (at the Hive Restaurant) via the Diamond and Dublin Street to Old Cross Square from Thursday 12th July 2018 to Saturday 14th July 2018 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 15th July 2018 between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m.
Lower Courthouse Car Park Closure:
From Monday 9th July 2018 at 8.00 a.m. until Monday 16th July 2018 at 6.00 p.m. a section of the lower Courthouse carpark to facilitate the Festival Funfair (84 short term spaces, 37 long term spaces and 2 disabled spaces)

Alternative Routes:

    • Traffic coming from the North via Glaslough Street, wishing to access Dublin Street may do so via Plantation Road, North Rd (NS 54) to the N2 By-pass roundabout.
    • Traffic coming from the North via Glaslough Street, wishing to access The Clones Road (NS 54), or The Cootehill Rd (R188), or the Ballybay Road (R162), may do so via Plantation Road, North Road, Rowantree Road, High Street, Hill Street, Market Street, Park Street, Broad Road to the traffic lights.
    • Traffic approaching the town from N2 Derry road to divert via the N2 Monaghan Bypass at Coolshannagh roundabout (Grahams). Monaghan town bound traffic to turn right at roundabout at (Bogue’s) signposted Monaghan, and continue along R937 past Cathedral entering the town.
    • Traffic coming from the South, via Dawson Street, wishing to access Dublin Street, may do so via North Rd (NS 54) to the N2 By-pass roundabout.
Local and emergency services access will be catered for at all times.

Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 26th June 2018. Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.
