Waterford City & County Council wishes to advise that road drainage works will be progressing along county road L-5064 at Ballylemon Upper from the 8th November, 2016 to 23rd November, 2016. Traffic diversions in place. Proceed with caution.

Road Closures - Winterval Festival 2016

Road Closures - Winterval Festival 2016


Waterford City and County Council wishes to advise of the following road closures, to facilitate the Winterval Festival 2016.


Roads to be closed:


1.  To facilitate the Winterval Christmas Market, Arundel Square – L5532 (from its junction with Peter Street to Conduit Lane) will be closed from 6am Sunday 20th November 2016 until 6am Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

Alternative Routes:

All traffic from Patricks Street should divert to The Mall via Lady Lane.
Traffic from High Street should divert to The Quays via Conduit Lane.
A Temporary Loading Bay will be available on Peter Street.

2.  To facilitate the arrival of Santa Claus and the switching on of the Christmas Lights, Barronstrand Street – L91092 and Broad Street – L91092 will be closed from 2pm until 7pm on Friday 25th November 2016.

Between 4pm and 4.30pm there may be significant delays outbound on The Quay and through traffic should divert either via Ashe Road & Bridge Street or via the N25 (this road is tolled).


3.  To facilitate access and egress from the Winterval Festival, Greyfriars – L90020 (Resident and carpark access will be maintained), Baileys New Street – L90021 and Coffee House Lane – L90019 will be closed from 6am Friday 25th November until 9pm Friday 23rd December 2016.

Local access for residents will be facilitated as much as possible but some restrictions will apply. There will be strictly no parking permitted on the junction of Greyfriars and Chairmans Arch. 



4.  To facilitate safe access and egress from the Winterval Festival, Henrietta Street – L90018 and High Street - L 5533 (from its junction with Olaf Street to Henrietta Street) will be closed on the following dates and times:

Friday 25th November                       3pm to 8pm

Saturday 26th November                  10am to 8pm

Sunday 27th November                     11am to 8pm



Friday 2nd December                          3pm to 8pm

Saturday 3rd December                     10am to 8pm

Sunday 4th December                        11am to 8pm



Thursday 8th December                    3pm to 8pm

Friday 9th December                         3pm to 8pm

Saturday 10th December                   10am to 8pm

Sunday 11th December                      11am to 8pm



Thursday 15th December                  3pm to 8pm

Friday 16th December                       3pm to 8pm

Saturday 17th December                   10am to 8pm

Sunday 18th December                      11am to 8pm



Monday 19th December                    3pm to 8pm

Tuesday 20th December                    3pm to 8pm

Wednesday 21st December               2pm to 9pm

Thursday 22nd December                 12noon to 9pm

Friday 23rd December                       12noon to 9pm

Local access to Cathedral Close and Christ Church Cathedral will be maintained but at times of crowd pressure (between 4:45pm and 7:30pm on the days above) there will short delays until the crowd has safely dispersed.


Please Note: During the times of the roads closures no parking shall be permitted on any of the closed roads.

Loskern Water Supply Interruption

Due to a mains break in the area customers on the Loskern Water Supply Scheme are currently experiencing disruption to their water supply. It is estimated that this issue will be resolved by 9pm today. Irish Water in partnership with Waterford City & County Council are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Irish Water Customer Contact Centre on 1890-278-278
