Severe Weather Warning : Code Level Red Ex-Hurricane Ophelia is forecast to track directly over Ireland during daytime Monday. Violent and destructive gusts are forecast with all areas at risk and in particular the southwest and south in the morning, and eastern counties in the afternoon. Also heavy rain and storm surges along some coasts will result in flooding. There is potential risk to lives. Valid from 06:01 Monday 16-October-2017 until 23:59 Monday 16-October-2017 *********************************************************************************

Waterford City & County Council wishes to advise that Local Road L-5064 Ballylemon to Glenavadra Roadway has been closed until further notice due to fallen tree leaning on overhead phone line.  Alternative routes via R672, Dungarvan to Clonmel Road.

GARDA ADVISORY

MetEireann have upgraded the weather warning for County Waterford for Monday the 16th of October to Status "RED".
An Garda Siochana in Waterford are advising all motorists to limit their Journeys on Monday the 16th of October 2017 and to take extreme care when driving on roads. Hurricane Ophelia has the potential to cause extreme structural damage which will create risky and hazoudous driving conditions. Persons should not undertake any unnecessary journeys.
ESB Networks are advising all electricity customers to be prepared for periods of time without power. In cases of fallen eletricity cables, people are asked not to appoach the cables and to contact ESB Networks.
The Irish Coast Guard are advising all persons to stay away from sea cliffs and exposed coastal areas. High Seas are expected to accompany Hurricane Ophelia making coastal areas extremely dangerous.
Bus Eireann have advised that School Transport will not operate in locations under a "red" alert and Mr Chair of the National Emergency Coordination Centre Sean Hogan has advised that all schools in areas affected by the "Red" status weather warning should close. Please see advice from your school in this regard.

An Garda Siochana in Waterford are asking people to check on their elderly neighbours in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Ophelia.

Finally we would ask everyone to take the utmost of care during this extreme weather event.
