Irish Water & Roscommon County Council

It has come to the attention of Irish Water and Roscommon County Council that the water supply served by Ballinlough Loughglynn public water scheme is contaminated with Cryptosporidium. On the advice of the Health Service Executive, a is being issued. Accordingly, in the interest of public health, it is recommended that all users on the Ballinlough Loughglynn water scheme boil water before use.

Water must be boiled for:

  • Drinking

  • Drinks made with water

  • Preparation of salads and similar foods, which are not cooked prior to eating

  • Brushing of teeth

  • Making of ice
Areas Affected include Ballinlough, Cloonfad, Trien, Cloonkeen, Cloonbunny, Silverfield, Cloonagh, Tonragee, Garanlahan Lowberry and all townlands surrounding these. Semi Private Group schemes served by the public water supply are also affected.

Roscommon County Council and Irish Water wish to advise Customers served by the South Roscommon Regional Water Supply Scheme, that the areas listed below may experience disruption to water supply on Tuesday 24th October 2017, from 10am to 4pm approximately, due to essential upgrade works taking place on the Scheme
