Warning bogus tradesmen.Council tradesmen carry ID

Monaghan County Council have been informed that bogus tradesmen claiming to be Council tradesmen have tried to gain access to houses in the Smithborough area.

The men were in a white van with a ladder on the roof, they were looking to access the roof of houses in the area.

Tradesmen and other staff working in the community on behalf of Monaghan County Council carry ID.

Please be vigilant.  Should you observe this, we advise you to note down the van registration and contact the Gardaí. 05 2017

We are currently working on the junction of Church Square and  Dawson St. There is a diversion route set up on Mill st (Lower)

Access will be available through the site for emergency response vehicles if required.

All commercial deliveries will be facilitated .

Works will be commence on St. Patricks Terrace on the 29th of May.

Works are going on Mall Road. Traffic Management in place is maintaining the flow of traffic. 05 2017

Temporary Closing of Roads

Monaghan County Council intends to close the following road in County Monaghan in order to facilitate works under the Monaghan Water Conservation Programme

Date:   From Thursday 8th June 2017 to Friday 30th June 2017


Road Closed
L1632 High Street, Monaghan

Alternative Route: 
Traffic diverted via Market Street R867 on to North Road N54 and on to LS5514

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the A/Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 30th May 2017.

Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in County Monaghan:

Date & Time:- Sunday 4th June 2017 10:00 – 17:00 
To Facilitate:- 
Border Counties Vintage Grassmen annual cutting event
Road closed: - 

  • LP 4620 -0 at Essexford Junction, Inniskeen to the Kednaminsha cross roads, Inniskeen. Road closure is in the Townland of Coolderry.

Alternative Route:- 

Traffic wishing to proceed Inniskeen bound on the LP 4620-0 will be diverted right onto the R-178 towards Dundalk then Left onto LS-8200-0 and right onto LP-4620-0 towards Inniskeen.

Traffic wishing to proceed Carrickmacross bound on the LP 4620-0, will be diverted Left onto the LS-8200-0, then Right onto R-178 towards Carrickmacross.

 All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)
