Temporary Closing Of Roads

Monaghan County Council intends to close the following road in County Monaghan:
Date:- Friday 7th July 2017 from 6pm -10pm

To Facilitate: Castleblayney Muckno Mania Festival

Roads Closed:
West Street, Castleblayney, R181-3.

Alternative Routes.
York Street to Muckno Street:- 
Traffic will be diverted right off the R938-0, York Street, onto the LT75066, Thomas Street, left onto the LT75065, Henry Street and then right onto the R181-0, Muckno Street,.

Muckno Street to York Street:- 
Traffic will be diverted left off the R181-3, Muckno Street onto the LT 75065, Henry/Church Street, then left onto the R938-0, York Street.

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the A/Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 4th July 2017. 


Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”. 

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)

Temporary Closing of Roads

In order to facilitate the Monaghan Town Country Music Festival and Festival Funfair, Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following roads and carpark on dates and times as described below: -

Monaghan Town
  • LS5515 – Lower Mill Street between North Road and Church Square from Thursday 13th July 2017 to Saturday 15th July 2017 between the hours of 6:30pm and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 16th 2017 between the hours of 3:00 pm and 11:30 pm
  • LS5515 – Upper Mill Street between Hill Street and North Road from
    Thursday 13th July 2017 to Saturday 15th July 2017 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 1.30 a.m.

  • R867 – From Market Street to the Diamond (including Church Square), Monaghan Town from Thursday 13th July 2017 to Saturday 15th July 2017 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 16th July 2017 between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m

  • N54 – Glaslough Street (past the entrance to the car park (at the Hive Restaurant) via the Diamond and Dublin Street to Old Cross Square from Thursday 13th July 2017 to Saturday 15th July 2017 between the hours of 6.30 p.m. and 12.30 a.m. and on Sunday 16th July 2017 between the hours of 2.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m.



    Lower Courthouse Car Park closure:
    From Monday 10th July 2017 at 8.00 a.m. until Monday 17th July 2017 at 6.00 p.m. a section of the lower Courthouse carpark to facilitate the Festival Funfair (121 Short Term spaces and 2 Disabled spaces)

    Alternative Routes:
    • Traffic coming from the North via Glaslough Street, wishing to access Dublin Street may do so via Plantation Road, North Rd (NS 54) to the N2 By-pass roundabout.
    • Traffic coming from the North via Glaslough Street, wishing to access The Clones Road (NS 54), or The Cootehill Rd (R188), or the Ballybay Road (R162), may do so via Plantation Road, North Road, Rowantree Road, High Street, Hill Street, Market Street, Park Street, Broad Road to the traffic lights.
    • Traffic approaching the town from N2 Derry road to divert via the N2 Monaghan Bypass at Coolshannagh roundabout (Grahams). Monaghan town bound traffic to turn right at roundabout at (Bogue’s) signposted Monaghan, and continue along R937 past Cathedral entering the town
    • Traffic coming from the South, via Dawson Street, wishing to access Dublin Street, may do so via North Rd (NS 54) to the N2 By-pass roundabout.

Local and emergency services access will be catered for at all times.

We are currently working on  High St. There is a diversion route set up on Rowantree road and Park St.

We envisage the closure to be removed 1 week ahead of original program, and to be complete on the 7th of July.

Access willalways be available through the site for emergency response vehicles if required.
All commercial deliveries will be facilitated .

Works continue to take place on Belgium Park and St. Patrick’s Terrace 06 2017

Temporary Closing of Roads

In order to facilitate the Canada Day 2017 Celebrations, Monaghan County Council in the Municipal District of Monaghan hereby gives notice to close a section of the R867 in front of the Courthouse, Monaghan on the date and time as described below:-

Date & Times:   Saturday 1st July 2017 From 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. 

Alternative Routes:
Traffic travelling east shall divert by the North Road and Glaslough Street (N54). Traffic travelling west shall divert by Old Cross Square and Macartan Road (N54)

Access to and from the Upper Courthouse Car Park will remain unaffected.

A map showing the area affected is available for inspection at the Municipal District Office, The Glen, Monaghan.
