Temporary Closing of Roads
Monaghan County Council intends to close a Section of the N53 National Primary route Between Tullyvin Roundabout and the N53 at Connabury (Dundalk Road) Junction. Between the Hours of 9.30am and 11pm.
Date From:        Monday 2nd October 2017 to Wednesday 4th October 2017

To Facilitate: -  Pavement Works

Road Closed
N53 National Primary route Between Tullyvin Roundabout and the N53 at Connabury (Dundalk Road) Junction. Between the Hours of 9.30am and 11pm.

Alternative routes: -

  • Traffic travelling From Castleblayney to the N2 divert left at the N53 Connabury (Dundalk Road) Junction and continue along the N53 and divert right onto the L4300 at Annadruman South junction then take Left, back onto the N2 (Castleblayney – Carrickmacross).


  • Traffic travelling north from Carrickmacross - Castleblayney to divert at the R183 Corrinshingo Ballybay junction into Castleblayney.   

Diversions will be signposted.

Emergency services access will be catered for at all times on the local diversion routes 

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the A/Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 19th September 2017.

Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)

Monaghan County Council wishes to notify the public that the Regional Road R183 – From Fermanagh St Junction  Newtownbutler Rd Clones (Creighton Hotel Corner)to the Border with Co. Fermanagh will be closed from Monday 18th September 2017 to Wednesday 27th  September from 8am to 6pm to facilitate Pavement Overlay Works. 

Alternative Route:
•Newtownbutler to Clones traffic take the B53 to Wattle bridge (Co Fermanagh) and N54 to Clones.
•Clones to Newtownbutler traffic take N54 to Wattle bridge, B53 to Newtownbutler.

Peace IV Programme Funding Call

Peace IV Programme Funding Call

Peace IV Funding Opportunity – Capital and Programme streams.

The application process for County Monaghan Peace IV grants is open from Friday 1st September to Friday 27th October. Funding of up to €30,000 is available for Capital works and up to €75,000 for Programmes.

Through the PEACE IV Programme, Monaghan County Council /Peace Partnership Board/LCDC wish to support projects that promote social inclusion, combat poverty and discrimination and make a lasting difference in building greater cohesion between communities. In particular, projects should be able to demonstrate how they will foster enhanced peace and reconciliation. PEACE IV will place a strong emphasis on promoting cross-community relations and understanding. All successful projects will be required to identify how they will contribute towards the achievement of the result indicators of the Programme in order to promote a greater level of reconciliation and understanding.
