Weather Warning : Code Level Orange Hurricane Ophelia is expected to transition to a post tropical storm as it approaches our shores on Monday bringing severe winds and stormy conditions . Mean wind speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 130km/h are expected, however some inland areas may not be quite as severe. These winds have the potential to cause structural damage and disruption, with dangerous marine conditions due to high seas and potential flooding. Valid from 09:00 Monday 16-October-2017 until 03:00 Tuesday 17-October-2017 *********************************************************************************

Weather Advisory issued for Monaghan

The following Weather Advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at 08:00 hours Friday, 13-Oct-2017 On Monday, an Atlantic storm from the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia will move northwards close to Ireland. There is still a high degree of uncertainty regarding the exact track and evolution of the storm. However, storm force winds, heavy rain and high seas are threatened. Met Eireann will continue to monitor this storm and will issue appropriate warnings as required.

Social Enterprise Training – NOW Available!
Have you an interest in developing or expanding a social enterprise in Co. Monaghan? Have you an interest in applying to Monaghan LEADER to support your community or social enterprise? Are you interested in creating sustainable employment opportunities within your community?
If you have answered ‘Yes’ to any of the questions above and you are based in County Monaghan, then you are welcome to come along to our ‘Growing a Social Enterprise’ workshop taking place in Iontas Arts and Community Resource Centre, Castleblayney on Monday 23 October 2017 from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
This FREE event is being organised to provide you with an engaging and thought provoking training event that will help you learn more about:
  • The steps involved in setting up a social enterprise
  • The legal forms that a social enterprise might take
  • How to identify enterprise opportunities in your community
  • Researching the potential for social enterprise initiatives in your locality
  • How to identify a business model that can sustain a social enterprise over the long-term
  • Factors to consider when developing business strategies in social enterprises
  • Sourcing funding support for starting and growing a social or community enterprise
  • How the upcoming Social Enterprise Training Programme from Monaghan LEADER can help get you ‘Business Plan Ready’ for grant opportunities arising in 2018 and beyond

Funding - Peace IV Small Grants - Reminder

Peace IV Programme Funding Call Peace IV Funding Opportunity – Capital and Programme streams.
The application process for County Monaghan Peace IV grants is open from Friday 1st September to Friday 27th October. Funding of up to €30,000 is available for Capital works and up to €75,000 for Programmes.
Through the PEACE IV Programme, Monaghan County Council /Peace Partnership Board/LCDC wish to support projects that promote social inclusion, combat poverty and discrimination and make a lasting difference in building greater cohesion between communities. In particular, projects should be able to demonstrate how they will foster enhanced peace and reconciliation. PEACE IV will place a strong emphasis on promoting cross-community relations and understanding. All successful projects will be required to identify how they will contribute towards the achievement of the result indicators of the Programme in order to promote a greater level of reconciliation and understanding.

Weather Advisory issued for Monaghan

The following Weather Advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at 14:00 hours Thursday, 12-Oct-2017 A combination of a vigorous Atlantic weather system and the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia will pass close to Ireland on Monday, and has the potential to be a high-impact event in parts of the country. There is a lot of uncertainty as to the exact evolution and movement of this weather system during the coming four days, but storm-force winds, outbreaks of heavy rain, and very high seas are threatened. Met Éireann will maintain a close watch on the evolution and issue further advisories and warnings as these are warranted.

Temporary Closing of Roads

 
In order to facilitate Murray’s Funfair taking place during the upcoming Halloween Festival, Monaghan County Council in the Municipal District of Monaghan hereby gives notice of its intention to close a section of the Lower Courthouse Car Park, Monaghan, on the dates and times as described below.

From Wednesday 25th October 2017 at 8.00 a.m. until Wednesday 1st November 2017 at 6.00 p.m. 

A section of the Lower Courthouse Car Park (85 long term spaces)

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above mentioned roads with the A/Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 17
th October 2017.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.


This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)
