TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROAD – N71 Ballydehob to Bantry
Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993, & Part 8 of Road Regulations 1994, Article 12 (sub article 6), notice is hereby given that the urgent closure of the road as detailed below is necessary, in the interests of public safety.
Road to be closed:
The N71 National Secondary Road from the junction of the N71 and R592 on
the outskirts of Ballydehob Village to the junction of the N71 and the R586 at
Parkana on the outskirts of Bantry town.
Traffic travelling from Bantry to Ballydehob shall proceed along the N71 from
Bantry Town, then follow the R586 (Dunmanway Road) as far as the junction
of the R586 and R594 at Aughaville. Take the R594 from Aughaville to
Bauravilla (via Caheragh) and take the R593 to Skibbereen from Bauravilla
before rejoining the N71 at Skibbereen Town (Mill Road), then following the
N71 to Ballydehob.
Traffic travelling from Ballydehob to Bantry shall proceed along the N71 from Ballydehob to Skibbereen. Take the R593 from the N71 at Mill Road and follow the R593 as far as Bauravilla and take the R594 to Aughaville (via Caheragh) and take the R586 at Aughaville as far as the junction of the R586 and the N71 at Parkana on the outskirts of Bantry town.
The diversion route will be fully signposted. Local access will be maintained and fully signposted.
Duration of closure:
From 08.00hrs Monday 9th July to 20.00hrs Friday 13th July 2018 – 24 Hour Closure
Reason for urgent closure:
To facilitate emergency road restoration works of a collapsed section of the
N71 National Secondary Road.
