Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993, & Part 8 of Road Regulations 1994, Article 12 (sub article 6),  notice is hereby given that the urgent closure of the road as detailed below is necessary, in the interests of public safety.

Alternative Routes:

Traffic travelling in a Southerly Direction on the R-610 wishing to access the L-2480 (Laurel Hill) should proceed in a southerly direction on the R-610 and turn right onto the L2474 (Glen Road) at its junction with the R610. They should turn right on to the L-2480 (Gordon Villas) and proceed in a Northerly Direction until they rejoin the L-2480.



Traffic travelling in a Northerly Direction wishing to access the L-2480 should turn left onto the L-2474 at its junction with the R-610 and proceed in a Northerly Direction on the L-2480



Duration of closure:

From Friday 8th September 2017 to Friday 15th September 2017 (24 Hours Daily)



Reason for urgent closure:

Extension of Existing Road Closure

Road Resurfacing Works – L1516-33 Kenny’s Cross to Coole Lower, Fermoy

From Monday 9th October to Friday 13th October 2017

 (24 Hour Closure)

Section of L1516-33, East of Kenny’s Cross to Coole Lower, Fermoy

Alternative Routes:

Traffic travelling East towards Conna from the Fermoy direction will be diverted South via Castlelyons and Bridesbridge via the L-1518/L1519 to the R628 at O’ Leary’s Cross and eastwards to Conna.



Traffic travelling west from Conna will be diverted onto the L1537 at Coole via Coulagown village to its intersection with the N72 and westwards to Pearse Square, Fermoy.



NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that this proposed closure is to facilitate Road Resurfacing Works



Any person interested may lodge an objection in writing to the closing of these roads, with the undersigned not later than Wednesday 13th September 2017 at 5pm.

From Monday 2nd October 2017 to Monday 9th October 2017

 (19.00 hrs to 07.00 hrs Nightly Closure)

Alternative Routes:

Traffic wishing to access the Cork Road (R611) from East of the proposed closed section   should proceed in a Southerly Direction along the R-612-6 (Bypass Road) and turn right on to the R-613-19 (Church Road) they should proceed in a Westerly Direction and take the third exit onto the R-611 (Cork Road)



Traffic travelling in an easterly direction wishing to access locations East of the works should divert on to the R-611 (Cork Road), proceed in a Southerly direction and take the first exit onto the R-613-19 (Church Road) they should then proceed to the traffic lights and turn on to R-612-6 (Bypass Road) or R-612-9 (Bothar Guidel) depending on their destination



NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that this proposed closure is to facilitate Construction of Foul Gravity Sewer

Traffic travelling South on the N28 wishing to access locations East of the road closure should proceed in a southerly direction to Shannonpark Roundabout and take the first exit onto the N28. They should then turn left onto the L-2470-45 and turn left up the hill proceeding in a northerly direction to arrive to the east of the closed section of roadway.



Traffic travelling in a Southerly Direction on the L-2470-45 wishing to access locations west of the proposed road closure should proceed in a Southerly Direction to the junction of the N28 and turn right onto the N28. They should then proceed in a westerly direction to Shannonpark Roundabout and take the second exit on to the N28. They should then turn right onto the L-6469-0 and proceed in an Easterly direction.

    Roads To Be Closed:

The R595 from its junction with the R595 Townsend Street to its junction with the R595 North Street.

The L-9810-0, entrance into Public Car Park adjacent to Field’s, off Main Street, from its junction with the R595 Main Street to its junction with the L-9811-0 Public Car Park adjacent to Field’s.

The L-9811-0 Public Car Park adjacent to Supervalu, from its junction with the R595 Townsend Street to its junction with the R595 Market Street.



Road Numbers:

R595 (Part), L-9810-0 and L-9811-0.



Alternative route:

The usual one way traffic system through the town is to be maintained.

Traffic travelling from Bridge Street to North Street via Ilen Street and the By-Pass (N71) taking the exit off for Baltimore.

Traffic travelling from North Street to Baltimore via R595 Market Street and continue to the Baltimore Roundabout, as usual.



This closure is to facilitate A Taste of West Cork Food Festival.

Motorcycle Hillclimb – L4011-19 Twohigs Hill, Clonakilty

Sunday 17th September 2017

(07.00hrs to 18.30hrs)



Road to be closed:

The L-4011-19 from its junction with the L-4010-61 & L-8043-25 at Causeway Cross Roads to its junction with the L-8040-0 & L-8041-0 at Caher Cross Roads via Pallas, Brittas, Garrymore and Caher.

Alternative routes:

Southbound Diversion:

Traffic coming from Clonakilty will be diverted left at Causeway Cross roads onto the L-4010 via Drombeg, Muckruss, Dunmore and Duneen as far as Mountain Common Cross Roads where traffic can continue on towards Ardfield Village or turn right onto the L-8040-0 and rejoin the L-4011-19 at Caher Cross Roads.



Northbound Diversion:

Traffic coming from Ardfield will be diverted left at Caher Cross Roads onto the

L-8041-0 to Brittas South Cross turning left onto the L-8027-49. At Pallas Cross West follow the L-8044-0 and turn right onto the L-8043-0 to Garranagoleen Cross, right onto the L-8043-25 to rejoin the L-4011-19 at Causeway Cross Roads.



This closure is to facilitate Motorcycle Hillclimb.
