Carlow County Council wish to advise consumers that due to essential network upgrade works in Oakley Wood, Dublin Road, Tullow, Co. Carlow that the water supply serving Oakley Wood, Dublin Road, Tullow, Co. Carlow will be shut down on Monday, 27th February, 2017 between the hours of 11.00am and 5.00pm.

Carlow County Council and Irish Water apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Tá clú agus cáil ar an seó seo agus tá sé feicthe ag breis is 10,000 dalta ag an bpointe seo. The aim of this one hour show is to make students more comfortable with the exam format and to inspire confidence in them as they prepare for An Bhéaltriail. The production has been seen by over 10,000 students to date as it tours across the country including Carlow schools in 2016.   • Details: As a lasting legacy of the Carlow Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme, this innovative and unique contemporary stained glass mural illustrates a Carlow narrative showing some key Carlow figures such as Micheál O’Hanrahan who grew up on Tullow Street and Nurse Margaret Kehoe from Leighlinbridge who lost her life on Easter Monday 1916, and tells of the role they played in 1916. Rich in symbolism the piece was created by Peadar Lamb, an artist working primarily in the medium of stained glass for over twenty years, using hand-made glass and a variety of techniques which have changed little over the centuries. Well worth a visit, Admission to the Museum as always is free! Opening Hours: Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 4.30pm

  • Title: The Quiet Revolution - 70th Anniversary of Rural Electrification Exhibition

  • Details: The Rural Electrification Scheme has been described as one of the greatest social and economic developments in twentieth-century Ireland. This exhibition explores the bringing of the light to Carlow, from the first public lighting in 1891, to the implementation of rural electrification in the area (1947-1963) and has a focus on Paddy Dowling, Carlow Person of the 20th Century. The Quiet Revolution Exhibition has been developed in association with the E.S.B.. Admission is free. Opening Hours: Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 4.30pm

The following Weather Advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at 21:00 hours Wednesday, 22-Feb-2017 Update on Advisory A deepening Atlantic depression (Storm Doris ) is forecast to track across the north of Ireland and into Britain during Wednesday night and Thursday. It will bright some severe winds and heavy rain overnight and Thursday morning. In general Status yellow wind and rainfall warnings are in operation for the country and a status orange wind warning in force for some eastern counties between 0500 to 0900hrs Thursday morning, as the storms peaks.

Weather Advisory issued for Carlow

The following Weather Advisory has been issued by Met Eireann at 10:00 hours Tuesday, 21-Feb-2017 A rapidly deepening wave depression will track eastwards over northern parts of Ireland later Wednesday night and early on Thursday. It will bring a period of severe winds and heavy rain, with snow on northern hills. Strong to gale force southwest winds will develop overnight and become gale force northwesterly by Thursday morning with severe gusts, especially in northern and eastern areas.
