LEADER "Time Limited Call" on Basic Services open

Call for Community Projects under

LEADER programme

Under the Social Inclusion / Basic Services Targeted at Hard to Reach Communities theme.

The LEADER Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020 for County Monaghan is open and we are announcing details of a time-limited call for community projects that support the provision and upgrading of community recreational facilities and infrastructure, to facilitate better access and use of facilities in their community. Typical types of projects envisaged include; walking and running tracks, playgrounds, outdoor gym equipment and multi-purpose playing pitches. All projects need to be open and accessible for general community use. A budget of €450,000 has been allocated for this call and it is expected that approximately 6 projects could be funded.  

Interested groups are invited to submit an Expression of Interest Form which outlines their project proposal and is used to check if the project is eligible to progress to the full application stage. Expression of Interest Forms and further information on the Application process and LEADER programme are available on www.midl.ie.  

This is a time limited call and in order to be considered for full application a fully completed Expression of Interest Form must be submitted to Monaghan LEADER, Monaghan Integrated Development, Monaghan Rd, Castleblayney, Co.   • Title: 1916 Commemorative Stained Glass Mural by artist Peadar Lamb

  • Details: As a lasting legacy of the Carlow Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme, this innovative and unique contemporary stained glass mural illustrates a Carlow narrative showing some key Carlow figures such as Micheál O’Hanrahan who grew up on Tullow Street and Nurse Margaret Kehoe from Leighlinbridge who lost her life on Easter Monday 1916, and tells of the role they played in 1916. Rich in symbolism the piece was created by Peadar Lamb, an artist working primarily in the medium of stained glass for over twenty years, using hand-made glass and a variety of techniques which have changed little over the centuries. Well worth a visit, Admission to the Museum as always is free! Opening Hours: Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 4.30pm

  • Title: The Quiet Revolution - 70th Anniversary of Rural Electrification Exhibition
  • Venue: Carlow County Museum

  • Details: The Rural Electrification Scheme has been described as one of the greatest social and economic developments in twentieth-century Ireland. This exhibition explores the bringing of the light to Carlow, from the first public lighting in 1891, to the implementation of rural electrification in the area (1947-1963) and has a focus on Paddy Dowling, Carlow Person of the 20th Century. The Quiet Revolution Exhibition has been developed in association with the E.S.B.. Admission is free.
