  • Details: As a lasting legacy of the Carlow Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme, this innovative and unique contemporary stained glass mural illustrates a Carlow narrative showing some key Carlow figures such as Micheál O’Hanrahan who grew up on Tullow Street and Nurse Margaret Kehoe from Leighlinbridge who lost her life on Easter Monday 1916, and tells of the role they played in 1916. Rich in symbolism the piece was created by Peadar Lamb, an artist working primarily in the medium of stained glass for over twenty years, using hand-made glass and a variety of techniques which have changed little over the centuries. Well worth a visit, Admission to the Museum as always is free! Opening Hours: Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 4.30pm

New iMAPs Mapviewer with 2016 Aerial Photography

New iMAPs Mapviewer with 2016 Aerial Photography

The GIS section of Wexford County Council have developed a new iMAPs mapviewer that will work on all devices and we have added more layers to the viewer than the old iMAPs viewer.

This mapviewer provides information on planning, development plans, admin boundaries e.g. townlands, local service locations, historical sites, recreational data such as playgrounds and walking trails etc. along with recent  aerial photos for the county (2016) which you can view via basemap gallery widget.

Note this application has links (on top of map window) to a short iMAPs YouTube Help Video and iMAPs User Manual to aid with your initial use of this mapviewer. It is very easy to use once you get started.

Monaghan LEADER has finalised plans to launch a call for festival funding under the Monaghan LEADER programme and I would appreciate your support in promoting this funding opportunity.  Please forward this information to individuals or groups involved in organising festivals and events in your area.

If you are involved in organising your local festival and wish to make it more sustainable, you are invited to attend the Monaghan LEADER - Rural Tourism Festivals Time-Limited Call Event on:

Wednesday 19th April at 7.30p.m. in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan Town.

This call for festival projects is open to accept ‘expressions of interest’ from 19 April 2017 until the call closes on 19 May 2017.  The call is targeted towards supporting the purchase of festival equipment/infrastructure & joint marketing for festivals, which work together for benefit of all in the area.  This opportunity is open to all festival groups in County Monaghan, and further information and expression of interest forms are available from this link: http://www.midl.ie/index.php/leader/leader-tourism-call .

Adele Mealey and Aedeen O'Hagan will choreograph all the dances apart from the students who won the choreographing competition. The Ballet, Jazz and Modern Theatre Dance styles are suitable for every age. Cinderella needs no explaining except the Fairy Godmother has many fairy friends to guide Cinderella to the Ball; In The Secret Garden we have Mary, an orphan who comes to an old drafty house, makes friends, discovers a garden with the help of a robin and helps to bring the garden to life and a cousin to walk again. The Well is an Irish folklore story about a girl who goes to a well and meets some fairies and a wise woman who warns her not to stay too long with the fairies or she will never get back home again.
